The Welcome Back
The window slid down, and a familiar face appeared.
“Yusom-ah, get in quickly.”
Lee Se-hyun’s cousin oppa An Yoon-chan, the one who took on all the grimy jobs at his company.
This oppa, his driving manners were surprisingly bad.
Yusom climbed into the empty passenger seat and shut the door.
“Oppa, if you honk that loudly, people will curse you out.”
“Haha, really? Since I’m driving such a good car, my hand must have tightened on its own.”
Yoon-chan scratched the back of his head with a naive smile. Yusom let out a deep sigh.
He had been working at Se-hyun’s company for quite some time now, a diligent and kind man.
They had known each other since his rookie days, crossing paths whenever Yusom stopped by the office to help Se-hyun.
Yusom had a few close people at the company because she sometimes went to help there.
Legacy Enterprise.
Se-hyun, a young man, had founded it and quickly turned it into the industry’s top agency.
It was the hottest planning company these days.
Right now, it held several of the most successful top actors in South Korea and an idol group skilled enough to surpass Billboard charts.
And at the pinnacle sat Baek Eun-geon, Han Teo, and Ha Gang-bin—national athlete-level sports stars.
Legacy Enterprise was the first agency in the industry to stop treating athletes as mere advertising models.
They focused on their potential as entertainers, signed them, and managed them systematically.
They supported athletes in performing at their best, handled private life management, and perfected image making, earning praise for pioneering new markets.
“Long time no see. Yusom-ah, I know you’re busy, but I’ve been coming to the company often.”
Yusom nodded vaguely at Yoon-chan’s words and examined the car, which looked brand new at first glance.
“But oppa, how did you get this car?”
Where on earth did he borrow such a good foreign car from?
Yoon-chan, who never showed off, suddenly driving something like this puzzled Yusom.
“Why? Don’t I look good in it?”
Yoon-chan smiled with a bitter expression. Looking at him, the old clothes he had worn for years had been swapped for a suit today.
Yusom grew curious at the unfamiliar sight.
More importantly, she knew Yoon-chan’s difficult family situation better than anyone.
His late father, sick mother, and still-young younger siblings.
Because of that environment, Yoon-chan was famous in the strict agency for working harder and more tenaciously than anyone.
That Yoon-chan was driving a car this expensive struck her as absurd.
“Today I went for counseling with my homeroom teacher. He was making such a fuss that I said I wouldn’t come if I wasn’t going to drive a good car. So I borrowed one of the suits from the seniors, you see.”
Ha Ji-hae was Yoon-chan’s youngest sister and a first-year high school student.
Yusom had seen photos that Yoon-chan had shown her, and the face looked completely different from his.
“Ah, I see. Ji-hae must have been so happy.”
“She was so happy her eyes were tearing up. She knows there’s no meaning in stuff like that once she turns twenty, but she’s still too young. Even so, I can’t make my one and only sister feel embarrassed because of me.”
She was in a highly sensitive age, so that made sense.
Listening to Yoon-chan’s grumbling, the car had already entered the area near Legacy Enterprise.
“Ah, Yusom-ah. I’m going to stop by the convenience store for a moment. I need you to buy a pack of cigarettes for me. Sorry, can you park the car for me at the company instead?”
Yoon-chan hurriedly parked the car at the roadside. Yusom was stunned. Not cigarettes of all things.
She wanted to see the face of whoever was ordering Yoon-chan around like this.
“Do you need anything, Yusom? I can buy it for you.”
“No. But oppa, how old are you, and who on earth bosses you around? Even cigarette errands? Haaa… it’s fine. It’s not like I’m making you do it.”
Yusom’s pretty face frowned in an instant. But kind-hearted Yoon-chan just laughed “haha” repeatedly, brushing it off as nothing.
“Hey, only you care about me. I’m fine. I don’t want to come back without buying cigarettes and get scolded. I’ll be right back.”
“Just stay here, oppa. I’ll go instead.”
“No need. You probably can’t tell the difference between cigarette brands anyway.”
Yoon-chan casually opened the car door and stepped out. You couldn’t survive in this world without a playful personality.
Yusom thought being in the entertainment industry was terrifying like this. The reality was that staff stood below entertainers.
Those who worked hard thanks to the world’s praise often became arrogant, thinking they were nobility themselves.
“Eh? Now that I think about it, this place…”
Se-hyun had said that illegal parking enforcement had been tightened lately.
He mentioned parking the car near the convenience store for a quick cigarette run and ending up with an 800,000-won fine.
Plus, this was a borrowed car. If a ticket went to the owner of the car you borrowed, the owner would get furious.
So that’s why he asked the company to park for him.
Yusom quickly climbed into the driver’s seat from the passenger side.
Without her own car, the last time she drove was quite some time ago, but she had never had an accident.
She also often drove on Se-hyun’s behalf, so there was no problem.
The company wasn’t that far either.
She had just managed to park the car before the ticket was issued.
“Shit. Why is there no place to park today?”
As she entered the underground parking lot of the company, turned a corner, and went straight, only one spot remained.
Yusom turned the steering wheel all the way, then halfway, squeezing the G-Wagen into the narrow space.
Creak—
Instantly, the lower part of the right side mirror scraped against a metal protective guard beside the pillar.
Because the car body was so big and tall, the sensation was completely different from driving her usual car.
Startled, Yusom reflexively pressed the brake.
“Eh…!”
But instead of braking, she accidentally stepped on the accelerator. Boom! The rear bumper slammed straight into the wall like a sudden hard acceleration.
“Aaaah!”
Yusom immediately got out of the car. The rear bumper was crumpled as if hit by a fist. Total disaster.
Thankfully, no other car had been scratched, but…
Yusom’s mind went blank. Even though it was Yoon-chan’s request, she had caused such a major accident just to avoid an 800,000-won fine, and she wished she were dead.
Yusom bit her innocent lips while hurriedly explaining the situation on the phone to Yoon-chan, who soon came running.
“Yusom-ah! Let me check the car condition first.”
“O-oppa. Sorry. I shouldn’t have driven.”
It was a major accident.
The first car accident of her life, and it involved scratching a foreign car at that. Yusom’s slender hands and feet began trembling.
Insurance, treatment fees, no, repair fees… and how much was this car worth again?
Yusom knew little about cars, but she was aware that the G-Wagen started at least at 250 million won.
Two hundred million? She didn’t even have 100,000 won in her account!
Instantly, like a tailing horse at death’s door, images of her parents and friends flashed before her eyes.
If her mom found out about the foreign car bumper being scratched, her back would have no skin left.
“S-som-ah. Calm down first.”
Yoon-chan, seeing Yusom’s already teary eyes, was at a loss. The cold sweat dripping down his back was because the owner of this car was…
His personality was truly monstrous.
