Yeonhwa has been having recurring dreams of coupling with a snake every night. These dreams began the day she rescued a grass snake from being beaten to death. Eventually, Yeonhwa is captured by the villagers and offered as a sacrifice to the Snake God, Mugae. While she pleads with the deity to let her live, Mugae immediately recognizes her as the woman who saved him. "I want to be with you, Yeonhwa. I want to touch you."
